Thinking Out Loud – Big Brands, Mass Marketing, and Niche Products

In this post, I’m trying out my SoundCloud account again.  This time, instead of a fully-formed opinion-type or tips-type post, I’m kind of stuck.  This time around, I’m Thinking Out Loud.

I’ve noticed something about brands, and it was revealed to me when I was doing one of my favorite things: drinking beer.  The topic is this: bigger brands going to a broad market with a niche product.  Do they need to bring it to market as is? Can they make tweaks?  Will they alienate a user base?  Will it sacrifice quality?

I head down that path here.  I captured some thoughts in an audio file.  It’s about six minutes long, and it’s hosted over at SoundCloud.  Click on the image below to fire up the player.
